Food Storage Recipe - Powdered Milk Smoothies
I always see these little smoothie kits at Costco that I am TOTALLY tempted to buy. Who wouldn't want to have easy, healthy, ready-to-blend smoothies sitting there just waiting to be eaten? The problem is they are so expensive I can never justify buying them. My sister-in-law clued me in to this system she has been using to make her own homemade smoothie kits and the best part is they use powdered milk so they are perfect for rotating through my food storage supply of milk.
Fruit and Yogurt Smoothies
Serving Size: 2 large glasses
Prep Time: 5 minutes (if you make a bunch of baggies ahead of time)
Ingredients:
3/4 cup of frozen strawberries
1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
1/2 cup of frozen peaches or raspberries
1 cup of powdered milk prepared*
5 ice cubes of fat-free strawberry yogurt (or any other kind)
Sugar or other sweetener to taste
*instead of water for the liquid part of the milk, you can use juice for the flavor and sweetness, and the powder to make it creamy!
Directions:
Pour milk into blender
Add fruit, blend
Add yogurt cubes, blend
Add sugar, blend
Eat with a spoon, or drink with a straw
Directions to prepare a bunch of smoothies for the go ahead of time:
Buy 8-10 ziploc baggies
Buy bags of your favorite frozen fruits (I did 2 strawberry, 1 peach, 1 blueberry)
Divide up your fruit into the baggies
Divide a large container of yogurt into ice cube containers and freeze
Once frozen place 5 yogurt cubes into each ziploc bag
Put bags into the freezer and use them up as you wish, all you'll need to add is the milk and sugar.
By having all of these smoothie packets available in my freezer I have a ready-made, simple, healthy, and delicious meal or snack on hand at all times. My family loves these smoothies and I can feel good about them eating them, knowing exactly what's inside. And the best part is, I no longer have to worry about using up the powdered milk from my food storage before it expires. I can always fall back on my trusted smoothies even if I don't do enough other baking to use up the rest. Having a husband who refuses to drink regular powdered milk makes it pretty difficult to find ways to sneak it into my cooking, but the smoothie trick works great!

DIY Instant Hand Warmers
It will be getting colder and you are going to need some of these to be able to make. Keep the items on hand so that you can make them anytime you will need one.
DIY Instant Hand Warmers
Fill a large ziplock bag a quarter of the way with Calcium Chloride ice-melt pellets. You can get this at any hardware store.
Fill a smaller ziplock bag , one that can fit into the bigger one, with water. Close it tight and put into the bigger bag with the ice-melt in it. Seal it tight. Squeeze the bags until the smaller one with the water breaks open.
This will create a heat producing reaction that will last from 20 minutes to an hour. Keep in your pockets to keep your hands warm.

Hurricane Preparedness and Evacuation Tips
If you live in an area where there is a possibility of a hurricane coming onshore you need to know how to prepare for these storms. Unlike a tornado, these storms have enough warning time for the citizens in their path to prepare. The following tips will help you to prepare your family for the stormy days ahead.
Prepare an Evacuation Plan
The number one thing that you need to do before a hurricane strikes is have an evacuation plan ready. These plans are best made when there is not a storm threatening you.
• Plan where you will go in the event that the storm comes inland in your area.
• Decide who will be driving the vehicles that you are taking
• Decide which family members will be riding in which vehicles
• Make plans for carrying your pets with you
• Have emergency rations packed. Make one person responsible for packing the emergency rations in the vehicles.
• Have a check-list of things that need to be done before you evacuate so you can make sure you have everything you need
Packing Emergency Rations in Advance
It is a good idea that you keep a container packed with the emergency rations you would need during an evacuation. Pack these items in a container that is waterproof and has a good lid. Keep them in one place in the house and make sure everyone knows where they are located. Assign the job of placing these rations into the vehicle to one family member. Practice what you would do if ordered to evacuate so the person in charge of these rations can be familiar with their responsibility.
Things to pack in the box:
• A flashlight and batteries for the flashlight
• Enough water for everyone that will be evacuating to have drinking water for at least three days
• Non perishable food products. Pack enough for each person to have adequate food rations for three days
• Blankets and pillows
• Food for your pet
• At least three changes of clothing for each person
• Non prescription first aid medications like aspiring, Tylenol, allergy medications, bandages for minor cuts, antibiotic ointment, teething gel for infants, etc.
• Prescription medications for each person. The pharmacy will generally refill your prescriptions even if it is not time when a storm like this is threatening your area.
• Emergency cash
• Toiletries like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and feminine hygiene products.
• Your important documents like passports, deeds to land, titles to vehicles, birth certificates and professional licenses.

Strategic Relocation--Move To A Safer Place This Year!!
This is a book that we all need. A great resource for finding the perfect and safest place to move our families too. Over 400 pages full of usefull info.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION :
This is the long-awaited update of Mr. Skousen's classic book on relocation for security. Nearly 3/4 of this 3rd Edition is rewritten and it is expanded to 400 pages. In the process, the authors created all new graphics, charts and tables. There is also a new section on international retreat potential and 200 additional pages of analysis on every state and province of the US and Candada, complete with color maps.
The maps are chock full of detail, including private and public land use, satellite terrain features, military target areas, roads and graphic depictions of population density---one of our major threats to security in a crisis.
Despite the ongoing illusions of peace and prosperity, our world is getting less stable, not more. The economic foundations of the US and the world are all based on fiat money and are crumbling. Earthquakes, Hurricanes, War and terrorism are ever present threats, and the secondary effects of social unrest in large metropolitan areas will be disruptive and dangerous if there is a shortage of essential commodities that cause people to panic.
When you relocate or retire your prime concern should be long-term security, not recreation. Sometimes you can have both. This book is designed to help you relocate around serious threats and to develop contingency plans when you can't relocate due to work or family ties.
Strategic Relocation is more than just pointing out safe areas--simply because the safer the area, the harder it is, generally, to make a living and have access to the conveniences of life. For these reasons, relocation decisions are fairly complex, and Mr. Skousen walks you through all of the difficult choices and compromises that are inevitable in finding safety, without being totally isolated. This book has answers for nearly every situation.
Click here for the new Strategic Relocation DVDThe world is getting increasingly unstable. Debt levels are unsustainable, world financial markets are calling for constant bailouts, and the US is continuing to antagonize the Middle East with military intervention. Any number of these crises can lead to a break down in the social order of the high density urban areas of the United States. Could you survive without public utilities or supermarkets through a winter? Are there enough people around you that are prepared to band together and help one another during social unrest? More and more people are reevaluating their living arrangements to be prepared for prolonged disasters. But what if you have to stay in a big city for work? Have you developed some contingency plans? Are you located in a part of the city that will allow escape through the rural byways? Have you made a transportation plan? And, what can be done to secure your home now in case you can't get out in a crisis? Strategic Relocation has the answers. Alex Jones, founder of alternative new networks Infowars and Prison Planet, presents a full-length documentary/presentation with Joel Skousen, author of Strategic Relocation, North American Guide to Safe Places and The Secure Home, to discuss the long-term power threats facing Americans and how to relocate for safety and security. Joel and Alex examine the information within Strategic Relocation including the effects of natural disasters, nuclear war, long-term power failures, large-scale social unrest and police state tyranny. They consider the pros and cons of countries around the world but give particular emphasis to the state and provinces in the US and Canada. Joel also describes cost-effective ways of securing a residence to protect yourself and your preparations. Whether you are looking to expatriate off-shore or build a dream house away from the serious threats facing us, you'll find answers in this fact-filled interview and companion to the wide-selling book, Strategic Relocation.

Food Storage Recipe - Blueberry Pancakes
I woke up feeling great this morning, so I decided to make some blueberry pancakes. I used my food storage items. They were yummy. Kids ate them as fast as I could make them.
Blueberry Pancakes
3 1/2 cups of buttermilk pancake mix
3 cups of water
half of a teaspoon of cinnamon
1 1/2 cup of freeze dried blueberries (I have also used my freeze dried strawberries before , but kids prefer the blueberries.)
In a large bowl mix together the dry items. Add the water and mix well. Gently add the freeze dried blueberries and cook on a good non-stick skillet. Flip them when the edges get dry and bubbly. Brown the other side.Serve them up with syrup and butter.

Disaster Preparedness Basics: How to Prepare for Natural Disasters and Emergencies
Here is another book for your Kindle - Disaster Preparedness Basics: How to Prepare for Natural Disasters and Emergencies. Yes natural disasters happen... sometimes it seems like something happens every single day somewhere in the world. Some events are so severe that people are still recovering from them years later. Some last just a few days or weeks, then life goes back to what most of us consider normal.
Have you ever considered how you might take care of yourself or your loved ones if a disaster strikes in your area? Do you know whether you would have food to eat or even clean water to drink when it's desparately needed?
That's what this book is about. It's not a survival guide or a hardcore prepper manual. Instead it's designed to be an emergency preparedness guide for beginners. It explains common natural disasters, how to protect yourself and your loved ones when disaster strikes, and how to ensure you have adequate supplies until life gets back to normal. Some of what you'll learn in this handbook includes:
Emergency Preparedness Basics
Storing Food & Water for Emergencies
Stocking up on Medical Supplies
Consider your clothing, shelter, cooking and heating needs in an emergency
Preparing to stay home or leave the area
Making a Family Emergency Plan
Specific Natural Disasters to Know About
Longer Term Preparedness Planning
Weather Disaster Glossary
This preparedness guide is approximately 100 pages long and includes photos, maps and glossary.
