A Hand Crank Milkshake Mixer Can Come In Handy

Finally got everything out of our storage unit and have that done with. NO MORE MONTHLY STORAGE BILL!!! YAY!!! I found a lot of useful items in there that I had forgotten that we had. I found this Hand Crank Milkshake Mixer that is still new in the box and never used. This will come in handy when making things with powdered milk. I think. Make it mix better. Make chocolate drinks that are better. I am so glad that I found this in there. I forgot that we had it , but now remember that I bought it about 6 years ago to put into our survival stash. Now I have it again and some other awesome things. Like a vintage Coleman Catalytic heater, oil lamps, and more. I am so glad that we got the storage taken care of and found some great stuff that I forgot that we had and that will be useful.

Have A Garden - No Matter How Small

A garden of any size will be a big help to you. I have a very small garden and it is already doing good. Nothing to eat yet , but there will be. We have tomatoes, baby corn, beans ( several types), brussel sprouts, and some green pepper that does not seem to want to come up. :(
No matter how much room that you have to have a garden in, make the most of it. Grow what your family loves and work with that. Every little bit helps. I can't wait until we have tomatoes. There are also a few tomato plants out by our shed from when I tore the plants out the last 3 years from the front. Threw them back by the shed and now they grow there too. Fresh tomatoes are just so good. You can never have too many of them. There are so many things to do with them. If you do not have a lot of room , at least, grow some tomatoes.

DIY Mosquito Control

Just watched the news and heard about how this years mosquito season is starting earlier and is going to be worse that it has been. Most likely because of the mild winter. We did not have the hard freezes that we need to have to kill the mosquitoes off. So I wanted to share this article so that we all can get a head start on controlling them.

Mosquito control is no easy task. In all, it takes a great deal of patience, persistence and determination. Mosquitoes are annoying, disease carrying pests which only serve to distract and irritate the people around them. While it's near impossible to effectively rid your area of these pests completely, there are a few things you can do to control them. In this article, we will outline a few mosquito control tips.

Step 1 - Remove any and all standing water. Empty all outside water containers, including trash cans and pools that have collected from rain. Be sure to recycle your old cans and old tires. If you have a bird bath and a bad pest issue, make sure to drain the bath until the population is under control. If you keep your pet's food and water outside, be sure to wash out your pet bowls on a daily basis.

Step 2 - Check around your property, looking for places that might hide water. Rake up any leave piles around the yard, inspect holes in your trees, remove water from gutters and cut down any high weeds. Clean out your flower pots and place tarps over grilles that might possibly hold water. Thoroughly inspect any furniture that sits outdoors. The drier you can make your property, the less instances of mosquitoes there will be.

Step 3 - Try to attract bats with bat houses. Bats feed low to the ground and can help you in effectively controlling your population issues.

Step 4 - Plant mint in and around the flower beds in the yard or around the fences lining the property. The flowers that grow from the mint will work to attract dragonflies which feed on mosquitoes.

Step 5 - Take the time to trim your bushes back so that the area under them is able to dry properly. Inspect your property for any signs of moisture. These creatures are experts at finding water, and it will take little more than a teaspoon for them to lay their larvae. This will serve to make your property an unacceptable breeding environment and force the pests to move elsewhere.

Step 6 - If you have a swimming pool, make sure to clean a treat it regularly. Make sure to keep the water circulating and fresh. Stagnate water will only attract more pests, adding to the issue and making your pool virtually unusable.

Step 7 - If you have a small pond in the backyard, make sure to stock it with fish that feed off of the larvae. This will keep your pond clean, lively and bug free.

Step 8 - Head to your local home improvement store and purchase some larvicide spray. Use this spray as directed, underneath sheds and in problem areas. This should only be used as a last resort, and in areas which cannot be easily drained. Larvicide works to kill the insects before they even hatch.

If you're still experiencing issues with your mosquito population, the best option is to seek the help of a trained mosquito control professional who is skilled in extermination.

Food Storage Recipe - Cinnamon Rolls

This is such a simple recipe and for something that is so yummy. Great to go with your first cup of coffee.

Cinnamon Rolls

2 cups of baking mix , I used Jiffy Biscuit Baking Mix . This is something that you should have a lot of in your food storage. There is so much that you can do with it and it saves a ton of money.

2/3 cups of milk

1/4 cup of softened margarine

3 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoon of cinnamon

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Grease your pan.

Blend the mix and milk together well. Put onto a floured surface and knead about 20 times. Roll to about 15 inches by 8 inches rectangle. Spread the margarine over it evenly. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over it evenly. Roll it up , like in photo, and then slice it into 1 inch slices. Place them into the pan and bake for about 15 minutes. Take a package of Jiffy White Frosting Mix and make it as it says too and put over the cinnamon rolls. Yummy and a frugal treat. The whole family will love these.
