Putting It Into Writing....

Unfortunately, my printer broke and I do not want to take money that can be used for more important items to buy a new one. So I have decided that since I already have most items printed off that I can use Notepads and write everything in them that I think is needed. Getting the Notebooks Online is super convenient! Keeping a notebook with everything in writing is also a good idea if you are ever without power and cannot get online.

The most important type of notebook that I wanted to have was one that is small enough to carry with me in my purse. That way I will have it with me at all times and be able to write things in it as they come to my head or when I see something. The first one that I got was the Roaring Spring Environotes Sugarcane Notebook. I LOVE it. Fits perfectly in my handbag. The paper has a great feel to it and it is tough. Perfect for my needs. Most notebooks that I have had to carry with me did not last long. Not sturdy enough for me. This one will last! Plus it has room for all of my ideas that come to my head at any time. When I am looking for more office supplies and paper notebooks I know what ones to buy.

Do you want a fun notebook that is VERY "green"?? I got one for you - A Roaring Spring Elephant PooPoo Paper!! YES ~ It is made from elephant poo!!
What an awesome idea! The paper is great too. I got this little notebook and I carry it with me, too. It is a cool notebook. Recycled and odorless. It is not gross to use paper made from elephant poo. They eat so much grass that most of it does not get digested. Which means this paper is really made up of grass. No cutting down of trees to make this paper. They are using something that is in plentiful supply to make this. I really like this paper and the feel of it. Be great to keep close at hand to write any ideas that come to me.

Now, I also love to plan my garden ahead of time so I have me a new Roaring Spring Landscape Format Writing Pad – Quad Ruled it is great graph style paper. Awesome for drawing garden plans, plans for sheds, graph out plans of your food storage room, and more. I really love it! Great quality paper. Really comes in handy when you are planning out anything. Make your measurements and draw the plan out. Very detailed and easy to do with this paper with its landscape format.

EARTHQUAKES all over! Even Here In Indiana!!

Thought that I felt a tiny bit of something this morning and just thought that it was the rock quarry behind my house. Got onto Facebook and one of my friends was talking about the Indonesian earthquake and Tsunami warning. Well, others started posting about feeling one where they live. In Indiana. It was only a 2.2 Earthquake but it was close enough to me to freak me out. I live in the New Madrid fault line zone. So this is something to nag at my brain all day. 5 Kitchen Essential for Frugal Meals

Ever wonder how your grandparents always seemed to have food on the table even when times were tough? And yet, it seems that we can blow hundreds of dollars every week at the grocery store. Wouldn't you like to know their secret to create frugal meals? Well it's not really a secret; it was just good planning that allowed their dollar to stretch further.

It's what ingredients you have in your pantry that determines how far your food supplies will go. Stocking your pantry with few kitchen staples will make the difference between heading to the grocery store every few days instead of every other week. Stocking these key items will allow you to create simple frugal meals.

1. Rice -You can buy rice in bulk for a little money and with some creative cooking, really make it do some heavy duty work in the kitchen. First off, think beyond the side dish. Add in frozen vegetables for a substantial dinner accompaniment. Add in some sliced meat, vegetables and fry it up in a large pan and you have homemade fried rice. Mix up rice with spices or a can of soup and some meat and use it in one dish casserole that can even be frozen. Rice can also be used for a dessert, like rice pudding.

2. Flour - flour is a starter for many frugal cooking recipes. It helps make gravy, biscuits, rolls and bread. Flour is a must for any baking recipes like cake or cookies. Making your own desserts is a great frugal cooking tip.

3. Spices - Have a selection of spices on hand is a great frugal meals tip. Spices will literally "spice" up a boring meal, or help you re-use leftovers and turn them into a new meal. When stocking your spice cabinet, look beyond salt and pepper and experiment with the spices of different cuisines like Italian, Chinese and Indian.

4. Pasta -Dried pasta can be used in many different meals. A big bowl of pasta is very filling and is easy to make. Add a great sauce or throw in vegetables and some meat and the pasta is the basis for a substantial dish. Stuffed pasta also makes a great meal and you can make a large tray of it and have leftovers for several days.

5 Beans - Beans are a great kitchen staple, since they are inexpensive and an excellent source of protein and other nutrients. And for some great frugal meals, think beyond baked beans. Add beans as salad toppers, make a black bean dip or soup, our add to rice, another staple and you have a complete dish.

Are these food staples in your kitchen? Take advantage of sales at the store and stock up on these long-lasting kitchen basics so you can create frugal meals all week long.

Found Some Treasures Yesterday!

Went to families yesterday for Easter dinner. Which was awesome. My little brother has turned out to be a great cook. He starts culinary school next fall. My daughter and me went , taking the little man. He had fun hunting Easter eggs and telling me the whole time - " See MOM, there is an Easter bunny!". Yes, there is Little man, and his name is Uncle Geno! LOL anyway. When we left we drove by our storage unit to get a shelf for my daughter and started looking thru some boxes and I found a bunch of cool stuff that I had forgotten that we had. Some huge solar lights. Not sure where I got them or when, but heck if they work than who cares where they come from. They are so big that they have 5 solar panels on the top of them. Crazy! Found a box full of oil lamps. Which I did remember having. 2 of them are really nice older ones that have the hanging thing on them to hang them up on the wall. Could come in handy. Overall it was a good day and hope to make another trek to storage in the coming weeks. Want to get out what we need and can use. Donate the rest.

Converting A Handy Hot Mini Washing Machine????

I bought this Vintage Handy Hot washing machine a few years ago. We had just moved into this house and had no way to get to laundry mat and no washing machine. But, I did have a clothesline. This worked great for a whole summer. I finally got a Wonderwash pressure washing machine. And have not used this for a couple of years. We have been cleaning out our shed - getting stuff ready for a yard sale in May. I was going to put this in the yard sale, but wanted to find out first if there was some way to convert this to a manual washing machine. One that uses no power. This is a lot bigger than a Wonderwash pressure washing machine. I just wonder how I could do it??? I am thinking that something else has to be made to go into the place on top of the agitator and then some how to move it. Not sure how though. Maybe a bicycle , like on The Colony. Maybe.

ANY IDEAS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
