This is such a fun thing to do! It is easy to make your own butter in a jar. Have butter any time that you want it.
Use baby food jars to make small amounts. Make what you will use.
You need :
Heavy Cream and a jar with a lid.
Fill the jar about halfway with the heavy cream and make sure that the lid is on tight.
Shake the jar up and down until the cream in it thickens up and starts to stick together.
Open the jar up and pour out the liquid, which is now buttermilk, and the solid is now butter.
Knead the butter under cold running water for a few minutes to work out the remaining buttermilk.
You can knead in some salt at this point if you want to.
Refridgerate and use.
This is so simple that you can have your kids do this for you. Fun for them to do to. Make a game of it. Who can shake their cream into butter the fastest! LOL

Declutter For Survival
This might just be a good idea. Declutter your home and life could be a great survival tip. Just live on the bare essentials. Get used to it now, so that when the SHTF you already know what it is like to not have everything. I am trying to get less dependent on the internet and other electronics. I know this will be the first thing that I ( my whole family) will miss when SHTF. So , if I get used to not using it as much I won't miss it as much. I am also getting rid of a lot of things. We are a way too material society. We all have too many things that are just not useful. Or have too many things. Why do I need 3 and 4 of one item???? that I do not even use anyway and would not be useful if SHTF!! This is my New Years Resolution. I will declutter our home. Of everything that we do not need. I will also declutter our bills, our minds, our bodies, etc.
What is you survival resolution for 2012????

2 tables spoons of chili powder
