Converting A Handy Hot Mini Washing Machine????

I bought this Vintage Handy Hot washing machine a few years ago. We had just moved into this house and had no way to get to laundry mat and no washing machine. But, I did have a clothesline. This worked great for a whole summer. I finally got a Wonderwash pressure washing machine. And have not used this for a couple of years. We have been cleaning out our shed - getting stuff ready for a yard sale in May. I was going to put this in the yard sale, but wanted to find out first if there was some way to convert this to a manual washing machine. One that uses no power. This is a lot bigger than a Wonderwash pressure washing machine. I just wonder how I could do it??? I am thinking that something else has to be made to go into the place on top of the agitator and then some how to move it. Not sure how though. Maybe a bicycle , like on The Colony. Maybe.

ANY IDEAS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Food Storage Recipe - Presto Pasta Primavera

This is a recipe that I absolutely love. You can add anything you want to it. I have added chicken, ham, polska kielbasa, left over steak cut up, and more. Or just leave it a veggie dish.

Presto Pasta Primavera

about 6 ounces of pasta - macaroni, penne, or spirals work the best

1 can of diced tomatoes flavored with basil, garlic, and oregano

1 can of cut green beans, drained

1 can of sweet peas, drained

1 can of sliced carrots, drained

cook the pasta and drain.

Heat up the cans of veggies and tomatoes while the pasta is cooking.

Mix in the pasta and heat through.

You can either serve it like this or add a meat. Have fun with it. You can even change up the veggies if you want. Add a can of mixed veggies or whatever.

Gas Prices Too High - Have A Staycation!!

With gas $4.09 here in our small town we will most likely not go anywhere on hubbies vacation. Which, gas will probably even more at that time anyway. So we are trying to come up with some Staycation ideas. These ideas are some that we have come up for ourselves to do this summer. You can come up with your own on things that you know your town has too offer.

Go "Camping" in your backyard. Set up the tent and have fun. Little kids really like this.

Go to a local pond and feed the ducks. Fish if you can. We have a local pond that is about 3 miles from our house and you can also fish there.

Take kids to the park - our park is within walking distance, so that could be something that we could do and the ice cream truck will be driving by there too soon.

Find out what the library will be doing for the kids this summer. Ours has reading programs for prizes and in the summer they have a movie night every Friday night after they close. Pretty fun and free.

There is a local Church in our town that also has movie nights in the summer. They always show great kid's movies. and it is free.

Take kids to the local farmer's market. Let them pick out the veggies they want to munch on.

County fairs are always fun. Check to see if there are any local flea markets too.

Go to a local pool.

Go play basketball or tennis at the local park.

Teach your kids how to sew, bake, cook, wood working, and more.

Have a family board game night.

Have a video game night. We love playing Wii bowling and that is something that the whole family loves to do.

This summer we are wanting to take one day and go to the local Apple Orchard. It is about 10 miles round trip from us, so not too bad. They have strawberry picking, hay rides, petting zoo, a park for the kids, and a restaurant.

Have a yard sale.

Fly a kite. Our house is on a hill and always seems windy enough to fly a kite. Maybe let little one make his own kite and then fly it.

You get the idea. When you start thinking of local things to do for a family staycation you will be surprised at how many things you can up with. Save money and stay close to home.

EMP Attack While Family Far Apart - What Too Do??

With my son down in Florida for Spring Break it has me wondering what would happen if there was an EMP attack. How would he survive and how would we be able to get to him? Needless to say , I have had some very scary thoughts going though my head the last couple of days. I am hoping that it would not be as bad as every says it would be. Some things I have read say that if it happened it would not take out as much as we think it would and then others say we would be back in the dark ages. So we need to prepare for the worst! Our car is a 2006 so it would most likely be done for. Cell phones would most likely not work. I have read Lights Out and it got pretty bad in that book. Florida is a 12 hour drive from where we are right now so how would we possibly get to our son when all that we could do is walk or ride bikes? I know some things to do to be prepared here at home , EMP Survival: :How to Prepare Now and Survive, When an Electromagnetic Pulse Destroys Our Power Grid and Disaster Preparedness for EMP Attacks and Solar Stormsare great books that have some tips and information in it. I just do not want to think of what would happen if we were all separated from each other. Lucky enough, my husbands trucking stays within about 3-4 hours away from home on any given day. But, I guess the one thing that we all need to do is plan with our families on what we would do if we are far apart from each other. Not sure how too plan for it and what we could do about it, but we are going too have a family meeting when he gets home on Sunday!!!
