If you have ever browsed the baby aisle at the grocery store, you might have noticed the plethora of brightly colored signs and toys that decorate that area of the store. Acids and artificial coloring can be found in the ingredients list of some of the top brands; although not exactly harmful, these are not desirable if you wish to feed your baby healthy foods.

Now with the help of Baby Food: 365 Days of Homemade Baby Food Recipes For Healthy Babies & Toddlers it will guide for you as you begin your journey toward feeding your baby and toddler the healthiest of foods. The best part about the process is not only the ease of making these foods, but the positive impact you will make on your child’s health. How To Roast Sunflower Seeds

Cover unshelled seeds with salted water, using 1/4 to 1/2 cup of salt per two quarts of water. Soak seeds in the salt solution overnight. Drain off the water the next morning and pat the seeds dry to remove excess moisture. (You can also roast the seeds unsalted, by simply skipping the soaking process).

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread the sunflower seeds evenly on a cookie sheet or shallow pan and bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown, stirring occasionally. The seeds will often develop a small crack down the center as they roast. Test after each stirring to see if the seeds are completely roasted by tasting. After roasting, remove seeds from the oven and allow them to cool completely. Then store the seeds in an airtight container for future snacking.

We have the perfect spot on the south side of our house for them to grow us some great sunflower seeds to snack on. Great for munching on while hiking. Sunflower, Mammoth Russian, 20+ Seeds Organic Newly Harvested, 7-10 Foot Tall should be here soon. Just in time to plant them!

Not only are the seeds delicious, but the flowers are lovely, reaching up to 14 inches wide! Russian Mammoth is an heirloom variety, and we are proud to make it available in Organic seed form. This plant reaches 8 to 10 feet tall, just right for leaning against (and over!) a fence or wall, its huge yellow-petaled faces nodding cheerfully. Its blooms reach anywhere from 8 to 14 inches wide, each boasting a huge brown-black center stuffed with seeds. This is a very heat- and drought-resistant variety, having stood the test of time for generations. You will love the ease with which is grows and blooms. And you'll also love the nutrition found in every seed. Did you know that sunflower seeds are 24% protein -- richer in that mineral than any other food except egg yolks and liver? And it also contains other minerals, vitamins, and essential acids. Talk about a healthy snack! Direct-sow these seeds long after the ground has warmed up in spring. Make sure the soil drainage is good, and that the plant receives as much sunlight as possible. Stake it to prevent the young stalks from snapping or toppling.
