What To Do With Our Tomatoes!? Make Tomato Powder!!

We are finally starting to get some ripe tomatoes on our plants. We can't eat all of them. So I decided to try something different this year. I am dehydrating them and them putting them in my Magic Bullet to make them into Tomato Powder!! Much cheaper than buying and a great way to use up all of our tomatoes. This winter when I want some tomato juice for chili or soups I will have it and it will taste fresh out of the garden. You have to make sure that they are very very dry.

Cooking With Stockpile!! Frugal Meal Idea!!

Here is another frugal meal idea that I make often. I always have these items in my stockpile.

1 box of Macaroni & Cheese
1 can of water packed tuna
1 can of cream of chicken soup

cook the macaroni as the box says to do it , add the cheese, drained tuna, and cream of chicken soup. Your done. We crunch of crackers and put that on top of our serving and it is really good.
The great thing about this is that it is fast and you can use any kind of creamed soup you want. Cream of mushroom, cream of broccoli, etc - you get the idea. But, this is a super cheap and easy meal. Maybe try the macaroni with a small can of can ham with the cream of broccoli. That sounds good.

Very frugal.

Thought That I had Broke My Foodsaver!

I was so scared yesterday. I was doing up some corn and silly me did not think about anything and just started up my FoodSaver and all of a sudden it quit on me and the light went out. I opened it up and the bag is not sealed and the foodsaver is full of water (corn juice)!! I hurried up and dried it out with a towel in a panic. I plugged it back in and NOTHING! No light or noise. So I stuck it out on the back porch opened and up on its side! I was hoping all day that it was not broke and that I would still have it. Last night I brought it in, plugged it in, and it came on. I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief. There was no way that I would have been able to buy a new one.
PLEASE learn from my mistake and do not try to vacuum seal something that has juice in it. I learned the hard way and almost lost my FoodSaver.
