Food Storage Recipe - Boiled Peanuts

My son went with his dad on his last trip to Florida and now all he talks about is the boiled peanuts that they got off the side of the road , I guess. I had to find a way to make them for him, since he loved them so much and it will probably not be until next spring before he gets back down to Florida. I was really surprised to find out how easy it is to do it yourself.

NEED

2 pounds of whole peanuts - in shells

1/2 cup of salt

4 cups of water

Combine all of this in your crock pot.

Cover and cook on low for about 7 hours.

Drain and let cool.

ENJOY

Why I believe There Will Be A Zombie Apocalypse...

I can hear you now, she just said that there will be a zombie apocalypse! And yes, I do think there will be one. But , I don't think they will be brain eating monsters. I think that it will be more serious than that. When the SHTF and all of the people that were not prepared or people that are now out of their drug of choice start hunting for what they need , it will be like we are all being attacked by ZOMBIES! It is going to be very scary and dangerous. They will be just like zombies with only one thought on their mind - TO GET WHAT THEY NEED NO MATTER WHAT IS IN THEIR WAY OR NO MATTER WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO TO GET IT! Might be scarier than dealing with a monster zombie like on The Walking Dead and movies. They will be looting pharmacies and stores quick and then hitting houses looking for what they "need". The prepared ones will have to stay out of their way. This is why we all should be preparing to hunker down and wait anything out. If something does happen we can stay put for a while.

BE PREPARED SO THAT YOU DON'T BECOME A ZOMBIE!

Dollar Tree Food Storage!

Went to Dollar Tree yesterday for some cleaning supplies and as always I go down the food aisle just to see what they have this time. Usually have something great one time and never get it again. This time they had these Skillet Sauces that are for chili!

You cook up your ground beef and drain it, Stir in this sauce, a can of kidney beans, and a can of diced tomatoes. Let simmer for about 10 minutes than eat.

I just wish they would have these skillet sauces more than just once. They are so good.

Food Storage Recipe - Bacon Gravy

We eat a lot of gravy in our house. Whether it is from packets, jars , or homemade. We love gravy. This is one that my Grandmother used to make all of the time and it is still a favorite in our home.

Bacon Gravy

NEED:

Bacon

About 2 tablespoons of bacon grease

2 tablespoons of flour

2 cups of milk

salt and pepper

Cook up your bacon to the point to where it is done , but not too crispy.

Remove it and drain it. Set it aside and leave about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet.

Add the flour to the grease and whisk it together. Cook this for about a minute. DO NOT BURN THE FLOUR!

Add the milk and whisk it together.

Crumble up the bacon and add it with salt and pepper to the gravy and cook it until it gets to desired consistency.

Serve it over biscuits or toast.

How To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse! Part 2

Some of us might try to stay put during a zombie apocalypse and that is going to take a lot of work to get our homes ready to be able to do that.

HUNKERING DOWN

You have to secure your location. It is the most important thing that you have to do. You can always figure out a way to get more supplies, but you have to have your place defended.

Try to make the outside look normal and put your defenses inside. Make the outside look deserted and not even worth a look into. If it looks like there is nothing of value there or that it has already been looted than no one else will want to search it. They will think that all of the good items are gone.

Board up and block all of the windows and doors on the ground level. This will block any access from the outside. Leave one door or window where you can easily get out of that is disabled from the outside. Maybe "hide" an access point for you in case of an emergency. Block all ground floor windows with anything you can that is strong. Like boards, cupboard doors, furniture, and anything else.

If you can now, start storing up wood sheets and 2x4's. Screws will work better and have a better hold than nails.

If you have a basement with windows the best thing to do is block them from the inside. Make sure they are sealed good and then take dirt and cover your whole basement line with it. Covering the windows completely! If you do it early enough , you could even plant grass seed in the dirt so it looks like it is supposed to be like that and that you have no basement at all. The basement can now be your storage for all of your food and emergency needs.

The most important thing is to have the house secured and to then have a way to always have clean water. Also have a plan for trash removal. That can attract unwanted animals and maybe even zombies.

Your home is secure so have ways to cook food, heat it, and have clean water.

But, always have a plan for bugging out if you have to.
