Tiny house living isn't for everyone-- but it is something that nearly everyone dreams about.

Life in the modern world is often surrounded with cluttersome... stuff... our notions of personal freedom and really our general enjoyment in life can easily seem drowned out in an ever accelerating accumulation of possessions. We're buried under the weight of our homes, our mortgages, our cars, and all of the things that occupy those spaces.

So it's no small wonder that every now and then, we take a step back, a deep breath, and contemplate an escape route from our lives that have been invaded and occupied by material possessions.

With a few helpful tips on the logistics of actually living in a house of 250 or less square feet, you can find that that dream wouldn't be so far out of reach as it may have seemed...

In this book, we discuss a number of useful topics, including:

• Starting Out and Advantages of Tiny House Living

• Storage Tips

• Space efficiency

Declutter Advice, Please Help!!

We are decluttering and not having much problem. It has been really easy. Toys are way down. I have my clothes down to where they could fit into 1 1/2 suitcases. Everything is gone that we don't need or use.

BUT..................

I am having a huge problem with the homeschool items! I can't seem to get rid of any of it. I have 4 shelves full of books. A chest of drawers full of supplies. A bedroom full of anything else that we would use for homeschool.

WHAT DO WE DO??

HOW DO I DECIDE WHAT TO KEEP AND WHAT TO DONATE??

I cannot seem to get my head around getting rid of any "school" items. Especially with the thought of us going to go off-grid with in the next few months. I just think that I will need it all. How do I figure this out??

HELP!!!!

My Favorite Off The Grid Book

I have had this book, Living Off The Grid Book, for a while now and it is my favorite. It is so full of information and tons of great tips. I learned so much with this book.

In 'Living Off the Grid: A Simple Guide to Creating and Maintaining a Self-Reliant Supply of Energy, Water, Shelter, and More' you will find just about everything you need to know about self reliance. In daily life, we can take control of the resources and services we depend on. Electricity and energy don't have to come off the public utility grid; alternatives abound in solar, wind, and water generated power. Design decisions can drastically affect power consumption, and bio-diesel and alternative fuels can help break the oil habit. Dave Black describes alternatives for eco-pimping your home and lifestyle for independence, economy, and a more integrated way of life. Equally valuable for the urban dweller vaguely concerned about the size of his or her carbon footprint and the rural self-sufficiency enthusiast, Living Off the Grid can help anyone take control of his or her life and way of living.Shelter.First Aid.Independence.With this book you can prepare your survival plan.Author - Dave Black

Off-Grid Living

I just got done reading Off Grid Living: 23 Techniques With Step-By-Step Instructions on How to Live Off-the-Grid and Survive in the Wild (Off Grid Living, Off Grid Living books, living off grid) and it was a great read.

23 Techniques With Step-By-Step Instructions on How to Live Off-the-Grid and Survive in the Wild

What are the odds you could fend for yourself without the basic modern convenience of electric power? Proponents of survival skills often seek to do without electricity or other utilities knowing that in a crisis their service would be interrupted. And for many years that strategy seemed the smartest. But gradually technological advances have made it possible to provide our own sources of power, water purification and even connectivity to internet so you can maintain communications with others without relying on the ground based services that can be disrupted.

Going off grid is a means of liberating yourself from the shackles of the way services are delivered today. But more than that, it is the freedom of the limiting thought of our current way of life. It is the opportunity to ensure that you meet all your needs for survival and in doing so you ensure that you are fully in charge of your own life.

This guidebook is the start of that quest for freedom. In it you will learn how to:

  • Build an off the grid home right where you are today,
  • Survive in the wild without basic utilities,
  • Take off grid living on the road with power and fuel, and
  • Make sure your off grid lifestyle is sustainable so you never have to plug back into the Matrix again.

Disaster will come. Our infrastructure is woefully out of date. The time to prepare is now.

Going Off-Grid

We have been planning and talking about it for years and have finally decided to make the plunge. Buy some land and get a tiny house. Go totally off-grid. We have an idea of where it will be and have planned out how we would do it. Set up everything.

We have already planned on being totally off-grid. Going to use a compost toilet. We have been planning this for the last few years so, I think, that we will do ok. Anytime had any extra money have been buying things that will make life easier when off-grid. We even have a wood burning stove put back.

Any other tips ???
