Washboard - Need One Of These

I love the idea of being able to have clean clothing if something ever happened. Be great for morale and such to be clean. Normal feeling. I have an old fashioned washboard, but I have to say that when I seen this contraption , Japanese Laundry Wash Basin w/ Washboard #1690 , I have got to get one. I hope to be able to soon. It is so cool looking and has it all right there. Also looks like it would not use too much water. I really like it.

Reflector Ovens

There is ton of information online about making and using Reflector Ovens. There are also some great examples of ones in the images. You can make your own pretty easily. The one type that we always used when I was a kid used 2 aluminum pans. One placed in the back of a grill and one place on top ( or it was easier to just cover the top of the grill with aluminum foil) this way the heat reflects down and around. You can then bake this way. Bake breads, muffins, etc. The hot coals should be placed directly in front of the baking pan and not under it. Concentrated radiant heat around the baking pan is needed for the best results in your baking. Check your items during the baking time on the bottom as well as the top. Baking time on windy days will be a bit longer.

Food Storage - Jiffy Mixes

One thing that you should have plenty of in your food storage is any kind of Jiffy Mixes. There are a lot of different types out there and a lot of different things that can be done with them. There is a variety of mixes and uses. They are also low cost. A very frugal way to add to your food storage. You should invest in a good Jiffy Mix cookbook.

Here is an easy one that the whole family will love.

Sandwich Cookie Filling

1 package of white Jiffy icing mix
1 tablespoon of margarine
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 teaspoon of hot water

Beat all of the ingredients together very well. This mix will be very thick. Spread between 2 chocolate chip cookies. This is a great way to use those "doctoring" up those cheap chocolate chip cookies (store brand). I have even added food coloring to the icing for Valentine's Day, Christmas, etc. Just takes something simple and makes it fun.
