We had a huge snowstorm and sleet overnight. The local news was warning of power outages. We were fine and have a code red for the roads so couldn't go anywhere even if we wanted to. The one time that the lights flickered I got my Vesta Self-Powered Heater out and got it started. I used 3 of the Sterno fuel cans. It heated right up and the fan started blowing. It heated up my tiny house very well. If the power had gone out I would have had this going already. I really like this Vesta Self-Powered heater it worked very well. Great way to get heat in an emergency. Having a few ways to have heat is the best idea.

An easy substitute for bread made with only 2 ingredients! Mix together Egg and shredded cheese. Cook them in a mini waffle maker! You can use them for anything that you would use a slice of bread for. Use for tacos, etc Easy to make and great tasting.
I just made bacon sandwiches with some. I used powdered eggs and some shredded mozzarella cheese that I had on hand. Super easy. Just mix the powdered eggs like it says to on the pack and add the cheese. Place a spoonful in the mini waffle maker and cook!

Food Storage Recipe - Special Rice Dinner
Here is something easy to make for dinner one night. Quick and frugal!
NEED
1 pound can of green beans
2 teaspoon of fat - I used bacon fat.
1/2 cup of flour
2 cups of milk
2 cups of shredded cheese
2 1/2 cups of chopped up spam or canned ham , which ever you have on hand in your food storage. I personally like the canned ham better.
3 cups of cooked rice
Drain the can of green beans.
Melt the fat in a pan and stir in flour.
Slowly stir in the milk.Cook it for a minute over low heat , stirring it so it won't stick.
Remove it from the heat and add the cheese , green beans, and meat.
Cook over low heat for 10 minutes or until the cheese is all melted and the mixture is hot.
Serve it over the cooked rice!
