4 Person Standard Survival Kit

The best way to be prepared is to get a earthquake survival kit together. Teach your children what to do in case of an earthquake and have a plan in place for what to do if there is one.

The first part of your earthquake safety disaster plan should include everything you can do ahead of time --

• Secure breakables in your home
• Develop a disaster plan
• Develop an evacuation plan - and set a meeting location
• Make a plan for pets and animals
• Review your home for structural weaknesses
• Set aside water and food reserves
• Keep extra prescriptions and eyeglasses available

During an earthquake -

• During an earthquake protect yourself and small children
• Stay positioned - don't move around until after the earthquake stops

After an earthquake -

• Check for injuries among family members
• Check for structural damage to the home
• When safe, put your safety disaster plan into action

It's important to have the details worked out in advance of when a disaster hits. After a disaster, some people may panic and having a list of what to do in an orderly fashion helps to calm people down. When your world has just been shaken, often, the best thing to do is begin checking off the things you need to do: return to some form of normalcy.

Remember that during an earthquake you can be cut off from emergency services, water, fuel, food, banks and other retail outlets for an extended period. Be prepared!

11 Reasons To Do Jigsaw Puzzles

11 Reasons To Do Jigsaw Puzzles - Saving Advice

I love doing puzzles and pick them up at yard sales and thrift stores any time I see one! I have even been very lucky and have gotten a lot that are new and never opened. They are fun to do and it is something that the whole family can get into. All though I have a stepson that every time he comes over and sees a puzzle out he will take a piece. Thinks he is being funny. Gives it to me later after I have already done the puzzle with the last piece missing. LOL

My Son Got Into The Food Storage Last Night! Found Out Food Storage Does Not Have To Be Boring!

And it actually turned out really good. He did not find any of the stockpiled sweets!! He was bored and just went to the food storage and grabbed a couple of cans of stuff and we ended up having Chicken Curry last night for dinner. Ate it over rice. I was so surprised. Just a couple of cans of stuff and some spices and my son made something that I NEVER would have thought to make. Just goes to show you that food storage does not have to be boring. He did start to get a can of Keystone chicken , but I had some chicken breast in the fridge that I made him use. Have to use the perishables first! So he threw everything into a pan. Chicken breast, can of diced tomatoes, 1/2 a can of coconut milk, one small diced potato, diced onion, and some spices. Let it cook and simmer for a while and we served it over rice. Not sure what spices he used, but it was kind of spicy. Not a bad spicy though. Little Man ate some and loved it. Ate seconds. LESSON LEARNED: FOOD STORAGE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE BORING AND TEENAGERS GETTING INTO YOUR FOOD STORAGE IS NOT ALWAYS A BAD THING.
