The notion of bartering is about as old as civilization itself. Wherever there is a need for a product or service, there comes someone waiting in the wings to provide the immediate fulfillment of that need. Bartering is ultimately at the route of all economic markets everywhere and we have honed this skill to such a fine degree that in times of civility and peace, humanity has managed to transform bartering into the provision of goods and services for one of the most coveted things on earth: money.
But in the event of a catastrophic disaster, whether it’s delivered by way of nature or by man’s own large scale self sabotaging, money will hold less and less value both physically and psychologically.
Most people can only stockpile so much. Even the most advanced of all preppers face the distinct possibility that they will run out of goods at some point or have them stolen by someone who is just that much smarter or sneakier.
