The Bullmastiff is a sturdy, alert breed; this particular breed is considered one of the best guard dogs in the world. It has a height of 25 inches and can weigh between 110 and 130 pounds. It is expert at following its instincts and knows how to separate friends from enemies very well.

4. German Shepherd

The German shepherd is one of the most commonly used dogs for security; they weigh an average of 50 to 88 pounds and are about 24 inches in height. It is a fearless defender and is known for its grown up behaviour when it has children around. With its great intelligence and learning ability it is the perfect dog for children and families.

5. Doberman

The Doberman is an extremely intelligent, loyal and alert dog. Although it is commonly known for its aggressive behaviour it can be easily controlled. If it is trained properly the Doberman can stop an intruder without hurting them. Weighing in at 75 to 100 pounds it is a very strong and agile dog.
